Sharing some of my favourite ListenBrainz / MusicBrainz findings over the last few months. ✨

*ICYMI:*

* #ListenBrainz is a free and open source service that can keep track of your music listens across different apps, platforms, and players, similar to last.fm.*

* #MusicBrainz is the user-generated encyclopedia that ListenBrainz feeds from to display info about tracks, albums, artists, etc.*

Tired of waiting until the end of the year to get music stats? You can subscribe to an #RSS feed of your top songs/artists/albums for the last hour/day/week/month.

https://community.metabrainz.org/t/syndication-feeds-atom-rss-now-out-for-beta-testing/726559

For example, I get a weekly alert of my top 10 tracks from the previous week using the following link:

You can embed widgets to your website which showcase the song you're currently listening to, or your last pinned track:

After a few scrobbles, you might notice that some tracks have a 🔗 symbol on the cover art, indicating that the track hasn't been matched to a recording in the MusicBrainz database.

To get the most accurate stats, I try to keep track of unlinked tracks. I used to link them one by one, but there's a better way! ListenBrainz has a page dedicated to link your unmatched listens in bulk:

I'm often able to find the corresponding recording, but sometimes, the album / release hasn't been added to MusicBrainz yet.

When I was newer to this, I would painstakingly add the missing song or album manually -- that is until I discovered the gem that is Harmony:

https://harmony.pulsewidth.org.uk/

With Harmony, you can enter the Spotify / Tidal / Bandcamp / Deezer / iTunes URL of a release, and automatically import it into MusicBrainz if it's missing from the encyclopedia.
