@mackuba I was bummed to notice it was Electron too. A little surprised since they’ve had such success with the native ChatGPT app.
@manton @mackuba Unfortunately it all boils down to wanting a single codebase for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Just like choosing React Native for your iOS and Android apps.
We’re seeing more and more React Native requests at work. I’m on a new React Native project now which is converting from native iOS and Android. The last project I was on did the same thing and is now shipping with 100% React Native code.
@mackuba @manton Microsoft is the main contributor to React Native for Windows. It seems like it’s only a matter of time before RN is on Windows, Mac, and Linux as well as iOS and Android.
We even shared a bunch of code with the web team on my last project, the one I’m on now is doing the same.
Both of these companies have lots of React devs, they’re paid less, and they’re easier to find. (At least that’s what I’ve been told.)
@manton Yeah, exactly!
Have you used Codex before from a CLI, or on the web? I've only used it on the web, I thought it would integrate nicely with this, but it looks like it doesn't have my past history of open or archived conversations and PRs I had there, even if I pick the "Cloud" tab (I only see my existing project environments, but no chats from them).
@mackuba Yep, I use Codex CLI all the time, and the web too especially for PR review. It looks like it does have the cloud tasks in the Mac app for me, at least the ones that weren’t archived.
