Having read some of Ammann's excellent The Monsters Know What They're Doing, I'd like to explore tactical maneuvering in my upcoming Out of the Abyss campaign. What of materials?

MAPS: I'm thinking a tablet of gridded easel paper. I can make up maps ahead of time for anticipated encounters. I have the *ability* to draw beautifully detailed maps, but not the time. I also want to be able to create new ones on the fly as needed.

I'll want bold lines in multiple colors. One of my 11 y/o players likes to draw on the map and doesn't have the best awareness of the interaction between ink, the edge of the map, and tables. I'm thinking crayons.

TOKENS: Metal or plastic miniatures, or even cardboard pawns, suffer from the need to sort through an enormous pile of them, then still not have (enough of) the ones you need. The ideal is probably dry-erasable cardboard disks, in different sizes, with different colored borders.

CONDITION MARKERS: These are probably useful for keeping track of who is poisoned, stunned, etc. Maybe also for reminding everyone, "Which one have we damaged already?" I'll try to find some that are cardboard for environmental reasons.

I know y'all have opinions and recommendations. Let 'em rip!

Say, why not use the same tokens for both creatures and conditions? These look perfect:
