Whenever I see one of those huge cargo trains go by, it reminds me of the ginormeous economic machine called the European Union. And that I am a privileged citizen that is part of this amazing project of peace and prosperity.

@phoenix I drove to Bottrop this weekend, over the Dutch A12 / German A3. Huge mistake. Schengen seems to be forgotten there and I realised I forgot to bring my D-Mark 馃ズ

@phoenix yup! Not actively, but the autobahn goes from 2 lanes to 1 to 0 and you end up on the old border control parking lot. There were only a couple of uniformed folks sitting in their vans, but you had to drive past them at 30 km/h.
The Enschede-Gronau border is the same, btw 馃槦
