#FosDem if you’re not masking you may end up with #LongCovid which is no joke.

In Feb 2022 I got COVID. In March I had to stop working because I couldn’t even focus long enough to make coffee let alone work.

By 2023 I found workarounds that enabled me to be a functioning parent and husband again.

In 2025 I found medication that enabled me to work and think again, but part time.

That is 4 years ago and I am not yet over Long Covid.

Mask Up
Wash hands
Use a CO2 meter as proxy for polluted air - stay under < 700 and you are probably safe indoors
If you’re sick stay away from events and people

@aki that is one of the highest values I’ve ever seen 😮 apart from airline flights

@dch under 700 is a dream value... At work I open the window above 800ppm, usual rooms with all these people barely drop below 1200.

I'll fire up my CO2 sensor... Brb

@dch

Room H.2215

Carbon dioxide concentration : 1474 ppm
Environment temperature : 22.88 C
Relative humidity : 47.74 RH

unofficial, probably not correct values. But if I go outside, the sensor drops below 500ppm...

@dch Can I ask which kinds of medication and treatments you're using?
I'm dealing with ME/CFS and so far haven't found anything that works...

@82mhz you totally can. If you want to discuss more feel free to chat next week.

Daily
- 2mg low dose naltrexone
- 1mg aripiprazol
- 4mg Intuniv
- NAC+
- metformin 500mg
Not daily
- infra red therapy
- eliminating carbs from diet (keto)
- forskolin
- CoQ10
- vitamin B C D
- 5HTP 200mg

Pacing!
low intensity exercise a couple of times a week.

I started off on Aripiprazol and had some improvement, then tweaked with naltrexone, and in 2025 started Intuniv which has been the 🔑 and game changer. I’d guess I am about 70% recovered now since this time last year.

@dch There is no data which supports "< 700 ppm CO_2 indoors is probably safe". It's a bit less dangerous, yes, but calling it "safe" is unfounded.

@foremostarchwiz True; this is my experimentally derived value. Since following this I’ve not gotten infected at events with close contact and spreaders.

@dch what medication are you using?

I was doing low dose naltrexone for the last few years but stopped it cold turkey over the holiday season because it was impacting my sleep too much. I definitely am noticing a difference (better sleep, worse brain) without it.

I also am on zepbound which has been beneficial. It's helped reduce inflammation for me and I've lost a bit of weight which is a bonus. I think without the zepbound, it would have been disastrous to come off the naltrexone.

The specialists I've been seeing at Stanford have not been particularly helpful with suggesting newer/better treatments 😣
