Let that sink in.

@randahl thanks for sharing
Most people who immigrate and acquire US citizenship are thinking or want to reclaim their original citizenship and passport as a safeguard.
Months ago, I spoke with a uni friend who is Australian and married to a yank, and has a US citizenship, and has been living over there for the last decade.
In recent months, she has been exploring the possibility of having dual citizenship (Australian and American). She was in the process of reclaiming her Australian citizenship and passport because she never wanted to lose her Australian citizenship or passport, even after becoming a US citizen.
Cuz a scapegoat is a scapegoat...
@randahl Reminds me of the time Syrians were fleeing to Iraq, circa 2010-2011
@randahl Idk if this is the best decision. Since Germany strictly follows USA (and has #AFD in its starting positions for next election). But as we say "In der Not frisst der Teufel Fliegen." (Desperate times call for desperate measures.) Atm it is more save in Germany than in the USA.
I wish all the people good luck and success with their papers and safe travels.
@randahl can't believe how the turns have tabled and that all this 💩 happens again 🙈
@randahl The ship is turned away upon reaching a German port. They circle around after being denied entry to Israel and other, only being allowed to dock in Greenland months before the US invasion.
@randahl of course I'd rather reside in Ireland than Germany.... EU passport
@bufalo1973 Schengen is not the whole EU. Ireland is not in it. Cyprus is not in it. Non EU countries are in it. Anyway, It’s mostly about travel and not residence. But you can live in any EU member country plus a few others if you are an EU citizen. Which is what I think you meant.
@relistan @bufalo1973 yup, that's what I meant
@randahl Honestly thinking of getting my German citizenship back I let go after I became a US citizen in 2003. Just a bit pricy, and the German bureaucracy language is very annoying
@randahl Crazy world… However, looking at our political landscape in Germany, I’m not sure if that’s the most future-proof decision 😣 The world is in bad shape rn… :/
@randahl 🤯 mindblowing.
