Two international journalists and foreign activists were attacked after Israeli settlers set a trap for them in the Ras Ein al Auja area of the Jordan Valley.
The victims included Ukrainian photojournalist Roman Levin and Russian journalist and activist Adel Shukko. A settlement security official arrived at the site with a far right Israeli blogger, who verbally provoked the journalists, filmed them, and then used pepper spray, causing severe eye pain, breathing difficulties, and leaving several activists collapsed on the ground, along with direct personal threats.
Israeli police and army forces arrived at the scene but only asked the journalists to file formal complaints, taking no action against the attackers. The incident occurred amid an escalation of settler violence across the West Bank and ongoing efforts to intimidate media workers and prevent documentation of violations.
