Two features I wish #Mastodon would improve are Lists and Private mentions.

Lists is a confusing feature with no explanation or onboarding.

Meanwhile, private mentions don't align with people's mental model of how sending DMs works.

The empty Lists screen displays an empty page and prompts the user to create a list.

#ActivityPub should have a subject field for all status posts so that a decent reader can list subject lines only. This view would be akin to a mail or news reader layout with a subject pane and a viewer pane. The splayed-out, real-estate gobbling, all-or-nothing, vertical feed view is highly annoying and counter-productive. This default layout forces users to see every word and image in the feed, providing a sensory experience of total information overload. This mobile-first, low-IQ presentation is migraine fuel.
