The Fediverse already works.
What it’s been missing is care.

Oweo is a Mastodon client built for people who already understand why this space matters, but still want it to feel better to use.

☑ Chronological by default.
☑ No engagement tricks.
☑ No data theater.

Just a clean, fast, video-first window into the network you already believe in.

The protocol stayed the same.
The experience finally caught up.

@oweo I'll take a look at this one; the big advantage of Fediverse is you can use different clients for your needs, given the fact it's interoperable - although you can't login to lemmy or friendica through a mastodon-enabled client. IMHO this is the weak point; e-mail interoperability has succeeded because you had dozens of clients using the same philosophy, who cares about whose provider you registered in.
As an explicit example, here I have read your post from an account, and replied from another, as I've one account for entertainment and one for serious conversations. But I have one on a friendica as well, where I must change interface to get in.

@elettrona

That’s a fair point, Elena, you’re naming a real friction.

The Fediverse wins because it’s interoperable and lets us use different clients and identities. That freedom is the philosophy.

Where it still breaks down is exactly what you describe: it feels like one network until it suddenly isn’t.

Switching between Mastodon, Lemmy, and Friendica shouldn’t require switching your whole mental model.

I’m actually working on an upgrade that moves this forward right now.

@oweo So, let's keep in touch. I am blind, I work on accessibility and inclusion, I'd like to pull other blind folks out of that hell of commercial social networks, and make them come to fediverse. But the question is always the same. Where, who, when, and overall how!
