When Threads joined the Fediverse, was the number higher or lower?
There is a difference between bringing a community with me and it growing organically. Of course, in the former case, it is quite high.

if you think “building social media alternatives” is necessarily about building communities and not just a piece of software, their terminology seems entirely appropriate

They're trying to make this more accessible for people who aren't techies, I say we should be generous about the language used.

If efforts like these get people out of walled gardens and onto the public, free internet then what's not to celebrate?
