What we're seeing with #theforkiverse has worked before and can work again. Community leaders have proven they can build communities in places like discord and it would be super cool if there were clear reasons for them to choose fediverse platforms.
Not sure if there are clear ways to promote it. Perhaps more focus on instance customization (tbh plugins would help).
I just registered sporkiverse.com for a later instance build.

There is a difference between bringing a community with me and it growing organically. Of course, in the former case, it is quite high.

Like many others, I listened to a podcast this weekend, and have found myself back on mastadon in #theforkiverse. Last time i was here, i didn't last long. Maybe this time it will be better, as i want the fediverse to work! I'm currently bundled yo on my sofa in rural England watching Dial M For Murder. #introduction

@Hicsumus @paco The podcasters include @Casey of Platformer fame, and also @kevin who's the NY Times tech reporter.
So very prominent and respected tech journalists.
They've written a lot about the problems with social media over the years.
So as an experiment, they decided to try setting up their own social network using Mastodon, and encouraged their listeners to join.
So far, around 2000 listeners have signed up.
And I personally hope it works 😊
