If this year was about getting off US tech, 2026 is the year to reassess the digital revolution — what works, what doesn’t; what to keep, and what to reject.

I’ve only just started to consider what needs to change about how I use digital technology, but I’m excited to learn more next year.

@parismarx Identify the literature, films, TV shows and music that mean the most to you, and get them in physical form. No corporation can be trusted to do anything that will benefit you or be trusted not to do anything that could harm or deprive you.

@parismarx I think this is wise, and it feels even more urgent to me bc of legislation like age verification in the us and chat control in the eu coming back again and again. In the future, if I weren't able to use an internet-connected computer without submitting government id documents or even having AI scanning everything I'm doing, I would be forced to revert to physical/analog ways of being across so much of my life.

Sucks that we even have to worry about this, but better to try and prepare ahead of time. With each passing week, I feel my reliance on the internet is risky in a way it's never been before.

@parismarx
Promoting the #Fediverse remains my number one priority #2026
Trying to reach all the early adopters out there who don't know about it, but are looking for something different and are OK with some of the "rough edges" around the project.
Peeling a few million people away from Facebook and Instagram and converting them to #Mastodon and #Pixelfed users and really building that network effect.
