Every now and then, I return to the source for #inspiration. I've been taking time away from the studio to celebrate the holidays, spend more time with family and reset. As we creep closer to the end of the year, I'm thinking about what to make, what to express, how to take my work to the next level in 2026. This Nigerian (Igbo) pottery vessel is absolutely magnificent--looks like sewn leather, doesn't it? #pottery #NigerianPottery #ceramics #art #BlackArt #AfricanArt

A large brown ceramic vessel with a wide mouth, everted rim, cylindrical neck with pronounced ridges, and globular body decorated in concentric bands and 'horseshoe' motif. The 'horseshoes' are applied coils of clay and they have been incised in such a way that resembles stitching. The pot is stately and warm in its presence. It has been broken and mended. Height: 41.60 centimetres
Width: 35.50 centimetres. Image courtesy of everyone's favorite colonial looters, The British Museum (digital collection.)
