I love that places like this still exist. They’ve been in this location for decades.
In a world of rapid product replacement/upgrade cycles, AI, and mass production, this person just fixes your broken shoes.
They did me right with mine. It felt good to fix instead of replace with something new.

@markwyner one of my boots broke yesterday but I think it’s just the sole separation from the shoe, so I am definitely planning on repairing it so it at least might last another winter
@markwyner I think there’s gonna be a need for more people who just fix things in the coming future. I’m hoping to find more of them.
@Cassandra 100% agree. I’m actually someone who isn’t great at fixing things. I’m trying to learn and do more of this. But the fixers. They’re gonna survive the apocalypse.
It’s a good reason to buy quality leather shoes that will last and can be repaired. They’re not going to be able to do much with an old pair of Jordans, I suspect.
Give a good pair of solid boots that can be resoled when the time comes.
@markwyner this place in Edinburgh. Sadly the owner just died. Used to see it every day about 20 years ago and wondered even then, who is frequenting this shop?
