Three are from germany, they have an overlap of roughly 30k followers. But the rest not so much, for example just a couple of hundred between the french and the german ones.
And did you see? Three of the five are on their own instance, having much more control about their presence in the #Fediverse.
Argh, how did I miss @ProPublica and @Volksverpetzer? I will have to revisit this…

@mho the large overlap of the followers for three German news profiles is not that surprising. Tagesschau ist basically the german BBC News and the oldest news channel of public television (since 1952), heise is the biggest IT related news channel and taz is the biggest left leaning newspaper with a great digital expertise and no paywall. All three are not bloated with ads and trackers as well which suits to the fediverse demography quite well.
