Nice to know from replies that there is a wide range of different names to call the neck-tube thing! (which I did not know existed before living in Saskatchewan, and now wear every day for probably ~1/3 of the year)

This is the pattern for my favourite one (the one that I need to find...) and it's called a cowl in the pattern! Yet another name! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sockhead-cowl

@sundogplanets animal/human waste is permitted in the Open/Modified Class of the Canadian National #CompostRacing Association. All you need is a compost thermometer!

@sundogplanets it's kind of a touque for your neck so it should really be called a nouque.

@ratcatcher @sundogplanets that was the name that came to mind.

They probably call them bunnyhugs in Saskatchewan.

@sundogplanets late to the party on this, but as a born-Reginan now in Edmonton, “buff” is pretty common, if not with eye holes (balaclava). For all the Brits and Irish saying “snood”, that’s an old computer game.

@sundogplanets

I haven't seen anyone call them a "dickie" (although Wikipedia does list it as an alternate name).

My Mom always called them dickies, and coincidentally I just found the bag with my Mom's dickies that I was going to use for biking.

Until we got 20+ cm of snow that tell me biking season is over, dickies or not.

#Biking #Cycling #Dickies

Three dickies (neck gaiters, cowls, snoods) side-by-side on a table. A white one, a brown one, and an orange one which has a nice ribbed pattern in the bibs.

That's it! That's the name I know but couldn't think of 😁👍

Cowl.

(Oh! On reading the replies further, also Snood, it seems.)

@sundogplanets omg thank you! I hate calling them neck tubes but cowl sounds cool and hip.

I'm gonna try and revive that word here in Manitoba.

@sundogplanets Yarn, chocolate, beer and wine if they’re your thing. Also a great place to get wool underwear. Cactus makes very durable work clothes. New Zealand also has really, really, REALLY unique potato chip flavors. (Duck Island ice cream! Fix and Fogg Everything Butter! I could go on…I miss it a LOT.)

@sundogplanets I've never heard that used for a buff/gaiter; I'd imagine for a not-insignificant bunch of us a "cowl" is a _very_ specific item... 🦇

Williams Studio's leather replica of Batman's cowl from the 1970s-era comics. It's made of shiny navy blue leather and covers the entire head and neck, with arched eyebrows over the eye cutouts, a pointed nose above the cutout for the lower half of the face, and pointed bat ears protruding above the top.
