My experience with @homeassistant has been a disaster.
I welcome any guidance or tips for achieving smart light bliss in a mixed Android and iPhone home, including alternatives to Home Assistant if they might serve my use case better.

@Jeremiah Well you got some answers from reddit but the reality is that rooms/zones are not something many protocols sync and need to be reassigned manually. Especially in Apple Home that can be tedious (a bit better on a Mac) and you need to do it everywhere once. It sucks, but it's a reality (that has nothing to to with Home Assistant really)
@Jeremiah @homeassistant Homey is the "easy mode" version.
@DekOfTheYautja @homeassistant Can Homey sync Matter lights’ room assignments to Apple Home and Google Home?
@Jeremiah No matter what system you have each of the voice assistants have their annoyances.
2 things I do is have a good naming convention like “Office Light”. This way in any system you can refer to it the same way. Then I also make sure the entities I expose are the right type. Sometimes a light is a switch and I have to switch it to a light. It makes a difference when you expose it. It gets treated differently with voice commands.
