Taking a break from MS-DOS, I've been working on a game for the #PsionSeries3 pocket computer, of which I own too many. Dragonfell is a #HOMM inspired game where two sides raise armies of creatures and send them against one another across a decaying land, trying to seize the other's citadel. That game goes into beta test today, hopefully for a release by Christmas. There may be an #msdos version in future, as it's different enough from HOMM to be worth porting.

Dragonfell running on four Psion Series 3 machines, showing off various different aspects of the game. Having too many Psions does have its advantages after all. From left to right: the new game menu where a player chooses what level of computer opponent to play against, or alternatively to play against a human opponent; the strategic map where the player gives armies to move around the land; the production map where the player decides what units to produce and where; and the tactical map where battles are fought when opposing armies try to occupy the same region on the strategic map.

Beta testing is going well on the Dragonfell project. I've changed up the title screen, with an image that can also be used for the manual cover, Itch banner and anywhere else that warrants full colour and high resolution. #gamedev #Psion #PsionSeries3

The Dragonfell manual cover, with a full colour high resolution version of the title screen.

The new Dragonfell title screen. It shows various elements of the game: mountain, forest and plains, the citadel, and three of the four unit types (I couldn't find a decent free clipart ogre).

@cyningstan

My Psion Series 3 remains the computer I have most enjoyed owning and using.

@david_chisnall Do you still have it?

I've started using one for serious stuff again, it helps me avoid putting too much personal stuff online. And of course, that got me back into #gamedev for them.
