@NunavutBirder
Thank you for sharing with us, that is truly beautuful.
@NunavutBirder Gorgeous!! Also very impressive how many fewer satellites you get up there... one big upside of being north of Starlink's 53 degree inclination shell, I guess
@sundogplanets It’s a bit surprising as usually we see quite a few. Interesting a lot of time lapse I can see geostationary satellites. As stars that don’t move.
Those streaks have been a pita for many years...though I have a few of ISS and the Orbiter, or a Soyuz chasing it...that was cool in it's day, but now....far more incidental boring ass stuff....not even iridium flares like we used to be able to predict...
@sundogplanets @NunavutBirder I hadn't thought about that - sitting as I do at 51° N I get loads of them.
It used to be a novelty to see a passing satellite, now it conjures up words like pollution and vandalism and arrogance.
@BobReflected @NunavutBirder I published a research paper a couple years ago titled "Visibility Predictions for Near-future Satellite Megaconstellations: Latitudes near 50° Will Experience the Worst Light Pollution" which is an absurdly long title, but tells you exactly what you need to know
@sundogplanets @NunavutBirder oh, I'm more than a little sad to read that title ... but really grateful for the share.
@BobReflected @NunavutBirder I live at 50.5 north, so I was more than a little sad to have to write that title! Here's the general public write-up version as well: https://theconversation.com/soon-1-out-of-every-15-points-of-light-in-the-sky-will-be-a-satellite-170427
@sundogplanets @NunavutBirder
an excellent article - I'll be sharing it.
@NunavutBirder Thank you for sharing this beauty! For me, the Aurora is like a benevolent drug since I have seen it for the first time (living in Germany). I wish I could visit! You are so lucky!
@NunavutBirder Beautiful sky curtains. Much appreciated.
Thank you, much appreciated
That's wonderful! 💕
@NunavutBirder That is amazing, thank you!
@NunavutBirder thank you. The star filled sky alone is so beautiful, and then all that light!
@NunavutBirder i love how that tale uses fear of being decapitated just to keep your eyes on the ground
@NunavutBirder cheers for sharing
@NunavutBirder Incredible... I love them... Thank You... Enjoy... 🌌
