Bob Smietana notes that in having immigrants rounded up, detained, deported, Trump is doing MAGA bidding. But MAGA also wants America "returned" to the "Christian" nation it was originally — or so MAGA imagines.
And ironically, Trump's draconian anti-immigrant policies are having the opposite effect from what MAGA wants in the second arena: they threaten to make the nation less Christian.
