The Grand Canyon & the Kolb Studio, which was begun in 1906 by photographers Emery & Ellsworth Kolb. The Kolb's were hardcore canyoneers. They carried their early--big & heavy--photographic equipment all over the Canyon. Sadly, the building is now a gift shop & the Kolb brother's history has been relegated to a tiny closet featuring a couple of their photos & a short video about their lives.

A black and white landscape photo of the Grand Canyon. The view shows the Grand Canyon at center left under a dark gray sky achieved through digital processing as though a red filter had been used. The canyon is wide, deep, and very rugged. A small part of the Bright Angel Trail is seen in the lower left. On the right is a multistory building perched on the edge of the canyon. It has dark gray walls and white trim. It probably has five or maybe six levels. Trees surround the building and cut across in the foreground of the photo from the lower left to upper right.
