A leonine alien pauses in the buckled gap of a bulkhead door with finger on the trigger of its shiny laser pistol which is pointed up but at the ready. The metal above him is cool purple while lower in the frame yellow laser beams cross, kicking sparks where one intersects metal. Dozens of rings pierce the Hani’s ears and gold bangles hang from furry wrists. Two more Hani lurk in shadows of the space behind. Above them rises a tall alien with long dragon-like snout protruding from its hooded robe. It grips a long gun by the stock and clip.

Tonal alternate preliminary concept for CHANUR’S BREAKOUT featuring a damaged bulkhead sliding open to reveal a band of aliens. The most prominent is a Hani, a leonine humanoid, with laser pistol hanging from a shoulder holster and beaded belts crossing its waist. A Kif—a robed alien with dragon-like snout—stands directly behind and rises tall above with its head cut off by the rounding top of the doorway. A trio of Hani back our protagonist with guns at the ready. One last alien stands over them with eye line up behind the concentric barrel of its gun. It has a pronounced brow forming a V on its forehead. Ears point directly up at the side of its head.
