Motorists have gotten used to the measly $9USD congestion pricing toll in New York City and are clogging the streets again. The original toll was supposed to be $22USD with the idea of increasing it until the level of car traffic reached an acceptable level. At $9USD it's still a cheaper trip cost than taking public transport.

From 2026 Melbourne (Australia) is doubling our congestion levy on providing car parking from $4 to $8 a day ($1750/yr to $3030/yr).
This is unlikely to have any real impact on the number of people driving to the CBD because the levy will just be absorbed in to existing parking pricing and probably won't be passed directly on to motorists.
Even if we passed this levy directly on to motorists at the point of sale it's still less than the cost of parking outside the CBD and taking public transport in (unless the parking is provided free at a train station)
