Hey friends, especially #Naarm #Melbourne friends:

After years of sorting through what feels like an endless amount of possessions and grief, I'm almost at the stage where I can put dad's western suburbs house on the market.

The gotcha is, I've no experience with real estate sales at all. There are a million real estate agents out there, and while they all seem nice, I've no idea how to sort the good from the bad. There's lots of advice out there, but it all seems to be written by the agents themselves.

Any advice (including recommendations) on picking an agent is appreciated.

@pjf this information is about a decade out of date, but my mum had a good experience with Gunn & Co in Williamstown, which would be relevant to the area you're in, and I also had a decent time being one of their tenants. It's about the only time I'd ever felt like I wasn't in an adversarial relationship with my agent.

The catch here is they got bought out and absorbed into Jellis Craig but they still have a Williamstown office and may have many of the same people there.

It's not a lot of a lead, but it's something. Good luck.
