Hi Simon - in short - 100% self boost. I definitely do it (sometimes too much - there is a search function and sometimes I go looking for an old post, end up laughing at my old toots like a PSYCHOPATH, and then boosting a bunch).

I also asked early on and the general consensus was why not. No algorithm and people across every timezone. If you've posted something you want people to see, go ahead and give it another chance to shine. If people don't want to see it, they can always limit boosts or mute or unfollow or defederate or hunt you down - that's upto them.
