Look, this isn't rocket science: if the government makes it impossible for asylum seekers to work legally, how did they think they were going to work?

As the US discovered during Prohibition, if you make something illegal, it doesn't stop happening, it just gets runs by organised crime.

Legalising work would help asylum seekers, help the economy, increase tax revenue, and cut off a valuable income stream for organised crime gangs.
