@markwyner There is a difference between being scared of being dead and being scared of the act of dying. If you do not believe in life after death (and I do not) then being dead is nothing to be scared of. The act of dying is different as that can be and often is very unpleasant.

@aadeacon good point. But she’s explicitly referring to the idea of being dead. What happens after that point, if anything. I didn’t provide that context, though.

Having said that. The discomfort (or even horrifying agony) of the act of dying could definitely be a fear factor in general.
