Today the new #Affinity was released. After the #Canvas acquisition, Designer, Photo, and Publisher were merged into a single app (luckily, the old stand-alone apps still work). Affinity is free, supposedly forever, with only AI features requiring payment.

I’ve long used Designer for figures and posters, and its affordability made it my preferred alternative to #Adobe.

I remain a bit sceptical about the “forever free” promise. The future will show whether it holds.

I love #affinity’s new export shortcut in the main app window ^_^

@pixeltracker I find Inkscape superior for figures and posters, and that one will always be free.

@pixeltracker by chance, do you know how it behaves on Linux behind Wine?

@cirlo By chance, I just came across this post today: it explains which Wine settings need to be made:

@pixeltracker that's great! I've always been curious to try it out.
Eventually, for vector design, I ended up switching to @inkscape and learning its tricks, but for pixel manipulation I'm yet not ready to go with GIMP.
My lazy ass has always gone back to Photopea for the easy transition from Photoshop!
