HELP!

Can you share approaches to decolonising the web - eg how did you ditch #Google?

I use #DuckDuckGo as a browser but am still locked in to G because of email and the calendar.

Is #Proton an ethical alternative for email/calendar? What else?

Desperate to ditch!

@serenissimaj I used Protonmail. Then I switched to Tutamail. Both are good. I switched because Proton isn't in F droid. It required Playstore to install it. So, I suggest you to use @Tutanota Mail and calendar.

@serenissimaj

I suppose it depends on your ethics. The controversy about the CEO is way blown out of proportion, but some people are upset about them offering a Bitcoin wallet and an AI (which can't be E2EE).

StartMail & Tuta Calendar seem to be good options (I've never used them).

I wouldn't recommend Tuta Mail because they encrypt your emails less than a 10th of the time Proton, StartMail, or any provider with Thunderbird will.

This site is very useful:

@serenissimaj

I totally forgot the most ethically dubious thing Proton has done. They suspended the accounts of some journalists, there was public backlash, and then they reinstated the accounts.

I don't know much about the story, but here's the first article I could find on it (I haven't read it):
