2 new data centres proposed for #Edinburgh, with a combined load of 413 MW: https://www.thenational.scot/news/25570659.ai-data-centre-plans-equivalent-building-five-new-edinburghs/

For comparison, the annual Scottish consumption has an average load of 2489 MW, the data centres are 17% of this.

Scottish Water are one of the largest consumers in the country with an average load of 50 MW. This is used to supply all water and treat waste. 8x less than two data centres.

@mikerspencer that's awesome. I do worry though as I remember the last time an authority rejected a planning application when Swinney and Salmond were in charge.

Trump's Golf Course got built.

Hopefully whoever proposed doesn't have the clout for the Scottish Government to overrule the local authority.

Yeah, I imagine it will get called in by ministers. Unless there's national opposition (flamingo land) they usually side with the developer and not the people 😥
