That was a good day. Through to Edinburgh to pick up a copy of @cstross latest 'The Regicide Report' from Transreal Fiction, pint in Greyfriars Bobby's Bar (full of tourists, to no-ones surprise) and a tour around the Edinburgh Hacklab.
Now devoured said book. Makes a suitably semi-apocalyptic ending to the Laundry Files. And I need to go and read up on Operation BARMAID, which is a bit of Cold War insanity I hadn't heard of...

#ScotRail fares will be frozen for the next 12 months as part of efforts to ease the cost of living, First Minister John Swinney has announced. The freeze applies to all tickets, including season tickets and Flexipass. It follows the permanent removal of peak fares across ScotRail services, which reduced some prices by up to 48%.
Speaking at #Edinburgh Waverley, Mr Swinney said the move aims to keep more money in people’s pockets as households continue to face rising food and energy bills.
#Transport Secretary Fiona Hyslop said the freeze would help maintain rail’s affordability and appeal. She said #Scotland became the only part of the #UK to scrap peak fares last year, describing it as the biggest rail fares reform in decades.

Duddingston Low Road

Duddingston Low Road is currently closed to vehicles. However, Historic Environment Scotland (HES) is now considering options to reopen this route to motor traffic once rock stabilisation works are complete. This should not happen!
A quiet walk in a favourite place earlier today: the Red Moss of Balerno, a few miles outside Edinburgh resting in the soft shadows of the Pentland Hills.
It never fails to calm my mind.
