Ah and now it's the Swiss being ******* not respecting Schengen
"Zoll" (customs, douane) control in the TGV between Vallorbe and Lausanne, but they ONLY ask for IDs, do not even enquire what any passengers are carrying
This is a border control dressed up as a customs control
I asked the officer precisely this, why he did not even ask what I was carrying with me - which a customs control (were it that) would have done
Problem here is I have no way to object - I cannot prove these controls are systematic
Meanwhile the officer has taken lots of extra time with one passenger at the opposite end of my carriage, I cannot tell why (out of earshot)
And it must be said the officer knew precisely what I was asking, and why, and knew in the manner he replied that he was acting in a grey area.
As he was polite I made it clear to him I had no problem with his behaviour at an individual level, as this decision was taken at a level above his.
And - give the Swiss their due here - EVERYONE was checked. Not just ethnic minorities. So that's fair at least.
On the opposite platform at Lausanne there’s a proper double deck train for @dominicstucki - sadly not the one I’m taking!
