Unity moves on common tracks. 🇺🇦🛤️🇪🇺

Ukraine’s first EU-gauge railway between Uzhhorod and Chop is now open, backed by €28.6 million from the EU’s Connecting Europe and Ukraine Facilities.

This means:

✅ Faster border crossing
✅ More trade
✅ Better links to 🇸🇰🇭🇺🇦🇹 – and beyond

Part of the EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes, this project will help bring Ukraine closer to the EU.

We #StandWithUkraine as it rolls forward towards 🇪🇺 🚆

I am doing some photo archiving, and some of the strangest pics from this summer are from MÁV's concrete sleeper dump, at Létavértes

There is something quite eerie about this!

My #CrossBorderRail conclusions tour starts in a fortnight. And with a rainy European autumn ahead this time I can’t delay it more… it’s time to rebuild the Birdy mudguards and luggage rack. Horrible job, lots of cutting alloy with the Dremel.

R+M won’t supply parts for a bike this old so I have to make my own from parts of a kid’s bike.

Rights are nice ... provided we can buy tickets in the first place. Some operators apparently figured out they could just not allow you to buy possibly combining ticket in a single transaction (by not showing some trains in offers, or showing them but not offering to book them).

@jon any advice on what else could be said on that call for evidence?

Today has been re-planned at short notice to try to understand the border at Falciu - Prut (Romania - Moldova) having not understood it when on the Moldova side. After that I head south to Galati (from there there's a railway line to Giurgiulesti in southern Moldova that I partially saw Moldovan side). And from there by ferry and bus it's on to end the day in Tulcea.
