@ShaulaEvans yup. I moved to Japan so that I wouldn't have to board an airplane ever again. I've stopped buying terrestrial creatures to cook and eat myself, making most of my meals vegetarian with some fish and eggs (though sometimes I do order in meat cooked by other people). I've moved most of my daily consumables (soap, everything laundry, various kitchen essentials) to plastic-free alternatives, and switched to washable/reusable versions of menstrual hygiene products, the cotton pads I use to remove makeup, etc. Every shopping choice I make is influenced by trying to avoid plastic. When we arrived at our new home, we bought as much furniture secondhand as we could find.
The tipping point was that summer heat wave in 2021, when I had already switched to buying everything online anyway due to stores being full of airborne virus. I realized I could get exactly what I want from the internet, and I wanted things that generated less plastic waste and didn't contribute to burning us all alive.
