I understand the above proposal is vesting enormous authority in the original poster, and can be abused. For example, someone can post something controversial or abhorrent, and then delete all responses challenging that viewpoint. But then the responder has the option to write a new post and link to the abhorrent post.

But at least there will be lot more clarity, compared to the present situation. I think it will also make future development easier.
