First impressions: pretty slick. I expected teething issues, and there were. Some came down to the fact that the UBports installer installed the wrong software, namely that for a OnePlus 6, not a 6T. Amazed that it worked at all really ...
This afternoon I downloaded the correct installation files from somewhere in https://wiki.postmarketos.org/
and flashed them to the phone. This ironed out some of the earlier issues:
- Front and back cameras now both work, although the color balance, focus etc are pretty dreadful.
- Phone calls and SMS messages work but audio is distorted. Had to tweak some Access Point details for my SIM (default config seems to be for Tesco Mobile).
- When the phone βgoes to sleepβ it no longer requires to be rebooted (which was a bummer)
- USB to a laptop for transferring files works with sftp, not MTP (i.e. command line, not drag 'n' drop)
Verdict so far is that Ubuntu Touch works much more nicely, but postmarketOS is promising. It's not really a workable phone yet
