Name your favorite obsolete, retro, vintage (etc.) technology that modern alternatives still have not actually surpassed in your eyes.

@kelbot Got an old-style Casio watch last year. Light, infinite battery, shows time and has a chronometer. Also gathers no data at all. (The backlight needing to press a button also adds to the charm.)

@kelbot Can I say the #BBS? It was sorta a pre-Internet tech, but definitely collided with the Internet when they became telnettable. There's never been anything like it with local digital communities since. In many areas, a choice of local digital communities even. I'll call #Mastodon maybe a spiritual successor but it hasn't captured the local feel. Local Facebook groups is mostly people selling stuff and griping. BBSs were run by locals for locals but still networked internationally.
