@kelbot Got an old-style Casio watch last year. Light, infinite battery, shows time and has a chronometer. Also gathers no data at all. (The backlight needing to press a button also adds to the charm.)
@kelbot Can I say the #BBS? It was sorta a pre-Internet tech, but definitely collided with the Internet when they became telnettable. There's never been anything like it with local digital communities since. In many areas, a choice of local digital communities even. I'll call #Mastodon maybe a spiritual successor but it hasn't captured the local feel. Local Facebook groups is mostly people selling stuff and griping. BBSs were run by locals for locals but still networked internationally.
The vintage internet was also much better than this insidious garbage we have now.
