Yesterday we talked sexual vs #naturist #nudity Post 1/3:

Today let's get science-backed on why #SkinnyDipping is MEDICINE (CW: nude lady pic)

Your body knows what it needs. Listen to it

What happens when you swim nude
🧠 Mental Health Boost: A 2017 review in the Journal of Happiness Studies found that engaging in nude recreational activities had a positive impact on self-confidence, body image, & quality of life

💪 Enhanced Circulation: When your body hits cold water, blood rushes to your core to protect your vital organs. This kick-starts circulation

😌 Natural Mood Lifters: Cold water skinny dipping releases endorphins—natural mood lifters. Some studies even suggest that cold-water immersion can reduce symptoms of depression & anxiety

☀️ Better Sleep: Exposing your body to the sun helps you soak in vitamin D, an essential nutrient that promotes bone and brain health... low levels of vitamin D & lack of sun exposure lead to poorer sleep quality & shorter sleep cycles

The lower half reveals her legs and the sandy ocean floor beneath her feet, which is visible due to the clarity of the water. The sky above is bright blue with scattered white clouds, and the horizon is visible in the distance. The woman appears to be in a relaxed pose, with her right hand touching her hair. The scene conveys a sense of tranquility and connection with nature

Post 2/3:
But here's what nobody talks about:

What's IN your swimsuit.

Conventional swimwear contains:
* Formaldehyde, aromatic amines and trace elements that can migrate from clothes and enter in contact with the skin, causing dermatitis, allergies and, microflora alterations

* Azobenzene disperse dyes, which are commonly used to dye synthetics, are known skin sensitizers

* "Forever chemicals" like PFAS in quick-dry finishes, which can contaminate the water and cause serious health problems

* PFAS have been linked to cancer (kidney and testicular), hormone disruption, liver and thyroid problems, immune system suppression, reproductive harm

When swimsuits get wet, those chemicals can more easily be absorbed into our skin and bloodstream, potentially leading to endocrine disruption, reproductive issues, and even cancer

@Crissy that is very interesting but the article you cite might not support the claim that swimsuit leeching poses a hazard? They tested 39 swimsuits and found:

Formaldehyde and aromatic amines were below their respective detection limits in all samples

and

Non-cancer risks (hazard quotients) derived from the exposure to trace elements were in a safe zone for all analysed trace elements. Furthermore, the carcinogenic risks were evaluated for As, Cr and Pb, exhibiting values below the 10−5 threshold, with the exception of Cr in babies and children-girls.

Post 3/3:
Your skin is your largest organ. It absorbs everything you put on it.

Swimming nude eliminates chemical exposure while maximizing health benefits.

This isn't about being "naughty." It's about being HEALTHY.

When did prioritizing your body's wellness become controversial?

Normalize nonsexual nudity as a health practice.
