I forgot to post last weekend鈥檚 project. I made a nicer common mode choke. The one I had worked but was not tidy. This one is in a box and has fixed connectors. Very happy with how that came out. That鈥檚 RG-316 coax. #HamRadio # AmateurRadio.

Is there any particular reason for using RG316 instead of RG174 as the losses in the short length used will be very small, and the breakdown voltage (at least with 100W) shouldn't be a problem?
I don鈥檛 think you鈥檒l see much difference using RG-174 coax. My previous build was fewer wraps of RG-58. That construction is very common. Some people use unshielded wire for this. I had RG-316 on hand and, at least with the stuff I have, there was no problem wrapping the toroid. The casing is stiff but not so stiff as to be a problem. There was no damage to the coax. You are correct, the toroid is an FT-240-43. Good luck! 馃崁
This is the box I used. Great price for a nice item. https://www.screwfix.ie/p/british-general-ip55-weatherproof-outdoor-enclosure-75mm-x-53mm-x-85mm/33991
