A quiet walk in a favourite place earlier today: the Red Moss of Balerno, a few miles outside Edinburgh resting in the soft shadows of the Pentland Hills.

It never fails to calm my mind.

A pathway made of wooden planks stretches into the distance through a landscape of mosses, grasses and other low-growing flora. Some trees crowd in from the left and there is a sparse line of trees towards the back of the frame. Beyond those trees is a blue sky streaked with clouds of varying densities.

A handsome Scots pine tree occupies most of the right hand side of the image, while a pathway made of wooden planks snakes past it on the left through a landscape of mosses, grasses and other low-growing flora. The blue sky is streaked with white clouds.

Spindly trees stretch to the top of the frame above a dense ground covered with mosses and grasses and verdant mounds. The shadows on the ground are soft and dappled.

A pathway made of wooden planks stretches along the left of the frame, past trees and bushes on the right which largely covered with a light green lichen. More mature trees grow on the left of the path and the sky in the distance is blue with hints of white clouds.
