These days most of the traffic is for "dodgy downloads" - binary files of problematic provenance. But a few dinosaurs like me cling on to it as another text communication medium that's not under the control of crackpot billionaires or rapacious corporations. For my preferred programming language the primary forum is still https://newsgrouper.org/comp.lang.tcl .
