'Perth and Kinross Council set to apologise for "Tinker Experiment" pain caused to Gypsy Traveller families'
The Bobbin Mill site in Pitlochry was the first site for the government's programme of forcibly settling Travellers. People were settled against their will in converted Nissen huts, without utilities and full of asbestos. Communities were surveilled and children were taken from families.

Bliadhna mhath ùr / Happy new year when it comes
Photo is from this morning, looking over the River Tay as the sun rose. -5°C and beautiful.

Hello friends in Scotland 👋
I have a lot of children’s books and clothes (used but in excellent condition) that I was planning to donate to a charity shop. Before I do, I wondered if there’s anywhere locally (I'm in Perthshire) that would pass items directly to families who might need them for free - community groups, mutual aid networks, schools, or similar?
I’d much rather they went straight to someone who could use them.
Any suggestions welcome, thank you!

Perth and Kinross folks (and visitors), I just learned about the council's free local bus scheme on the first Saturday of the month. This Saturday, etc.

Postcard, from 1930, is of a bus at the Devil's Elbow on the old Glen Shee road. From the Philip Smith Collection at the Mount Blair Community Archive - https://www.mountblairarchive.org/

One of the largest collections of Pictish carved stones in Scotland is in the old schoolhouse in Meigle in Perthshire. The tallest is 2.5m high and might depict Daniel and the lions: or the execution of Queen Guinevere. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/meigle/meiglestones/index.html
