While watching the movie, Wes Craven's daughter said, ‘Dad, girls don’t always fall down.’
Craven: "This made me realize I had fallen into the old horror cliché of the girl running from the villain and tripping on a rock or some other debris. I didn’t really care for that, so it got me thinking about taking it in the other direction."
He tried to do better in A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Craven's Biggest Regret:
An underwater chase through flooded tunnels had to be dropped.
The completion bond company acted like jerks the whole production and demanded that scenes be cut from the third act to stay on schedule and under budget.

Okay, there is almost a reason for the bare bathing scene. Like, chest above water means less chance of underboob leeches? It's tenuous though.
Swamp Thing has not entirely shaken its creepy past. Peeping on bathers and sniffing literature.
