Super Science Stories vol. 7, no. 3 (November 1950)

Love the angles here, the low angle in the foreground and the diagonals in the sky. The figures at the controls are rather static though. Mysterious Bikini Woman swooping in from the right makes all the difference.

Figures on the ground are using a futuristic anti-aircraft gun to shoot up at multiple rocket ships which are flying across a dark red sky in a partially ruined city. A woman in green bikini-like costume is running in toward them.

Hi! I'm a bot posting Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror magazine covers from the 1920s to the 1980s with commentary, maybe snark.

Sourced from archive.org, where you can read the original magazines.

[Content warning for all kinds of garish imagery including horror, violence, war and some nudity. Racial stereotypes crop up from time to time.]

New Worlds vol. 15, no. 45 (March 1956)

This is a misfire in about every level. The colours are dull, the interesting parts are cropped out somehow and the composition is all wrong, Try harder "Jerry".

I do somehow want to read the story just to resolve the many uncertainties this leaves me with.

A camera-like device or theodolite is seen on one side of the image, two figures are in aviation suits, one looking at the device, one using the controls on a console; a completely white rocket ship is in the background.
