#KDE pro-tip: Have the plasmashell --replace command bound to a shortcut key combination of your choice. This will refresh the #KDEPlasma shell. useful if upon returning from sleep / locked you find yourself without the panels. Happens to me a lot lately

@opensuse uhm... it booted and works but there were a couple of "meh" moments...
even though I selected "polish" everything was in (american) English and there was no other language to select in #kde settings. installed missing packages and got the translation but not everything is translated (especially FreeCell, which would be main app used by my father)
@opensuse I was trying to search stuff in Discover and it didn't find anything... turned out neither Flathub nor main Leap 16 repo were enabled 🤦♂️ #kde #KDEPlasma @kde
What's the simplest useful thing I want on my desktop?
A plain text area.
Now that I made it, any other #KDE user can have it, too!

Hey, does anyone know how I can change the font color on the digital clock desktop widget on #KDEPlasma 6? Or give the clock an outline/drop shadow to improve contrast against the desktop bg?

@sjvn Just gave my 12-year-old #Apple #MacBook Pro a fresh life with Linux Mint. 🚀
On newer machines I go for #Ubuntu, but here I happily skipped #GNOME and went for #KDE. Smooth, fast, and still rocking ~2h battery life. Proof that old hardware can shine again! 💻✨

Made the swap to Ubuntu finally after getting rid of Windows and I am blown away by how much faster it is and how all the programs run. I am converted #Linux
I have #Debian#Linux running on my 15-year-old laptop, with the full #KDE Plasma 6 bells-and-whistles setup.
With the exception of web browsers and programming tools, this system's performance is about the same as #KDEPlasma 4 on similar hardware 15 years ago. All the fancy new features since then have had a performance cost of basically zero.
This platform is amazing. It is successfully defying the laws of software engineering. https://itlaw.fandom.com/wiki/Laws_of_Software

Hey, what the actual F is this?
If I'm understanding this correctly, Dolphin is trying to make connections to ad servers? And it's doing it through the thumbnail process. I caught a whole bunch of attempts, including to ad.pubmatic.com and other questionable ones besides doubleclick and etc. What is going on? It shouldn't be making any such connections one way or the other from a file manager.. (I normally don't use Dolphin, but Spectacle is ignoring my default file manager setting and manually opening Dolphin instead.)
EDIT: Figured it out. It was generating previews of .html files with such references. A file manager still should not do this though... Only Dolphin does. @kde I don't think it should do this.
