In the wee morning or late evening, cycling to and from work, I always meet other cyclists here in Stavanger, Norway. Winter, snow and windy, autumn, rain and windy, summer, hot and windy (or rainy), I am never alone cycling. Children, men and women, old and elderly, and parents - they all cycle.



And when I show this photo I think you understand why. I live in a town I feel emphases safe cycling. It has twice been elected The Cycle City of the year, and municipals both north and south of my town are also famous for their friendliness towards cyclists (Randaberg and Sandnes).



This is what they based their election on: «Stavanger Municipality has been named Norway's best cycling city because it scores highest on safety, access to cycle paths and because residents experience that the municipality prioritizes cycling.»



Yes.

This is C. Sundts gate in the #Nordnes area of #Bergen, sometime in the late 50s. If you stood at this exact point today, it would be quite similar – but the signs and businesses have been replaced many times over.

USA likes horses right? Okay, let's export some horses to the US!



Here, a Norwegian "fjording" (Norwegian Fjord Horse), a natural blonde, is being prepared for the journey to America by M/S Ranenfjord in 1956.



Considered the Norwegian national #horse, the fjording is a small but strong draught horse and riding horse well-equipped for steep, cold western farms. It is an old breed, genetically seen as among the closest genetically to the ancient #Przewalski horse. It has been exported to the US in small numbers.

Street art is by nature a floating river. A new day, new art, old gone. I met this wall a couple of years ago, now it is replaced by some shiny, new buildings.

I would say this is something of the best traveling by bicycle, and a camera.

Ha! My last photo got lots of hearts, and even if it was from a beautiful place in Norway, I thought it strange.

And then I saw it was picked to be on Explore. Can anyone tell me why some photos are chosen to Explore, who decide, on what grounds? Or, is it a secret?



I added another beautiful place in Norway, Høyanger, just to check if all good looking villages are going directly to Explore 😆



Edited: I just discovered another thing. When I look at the web version of Pixelfed, Explore is called Discover and is titled Trending. So, if you have a great photo with few "followers"/viewers your photo will never be shown on Explore/Discover? Mhm.
