#KimGordon's Girl in a Band is OK to read, but I find myself wanting a little bit more detail.
She describes the rise of Sonic Youth, but it lacks a bit of struggle or trial-and-error. It's a good read, but sometimes I want more.
There's a part where she includes some of her at-the-time journal, and one part mentions a gig in which Thurston had to twice push Lee into the audience because that was the only way to end the song. It was done all in good fun.
But that moment only gets a single sentence. And I'm like, pushed him how? I assume he was being self indulgent but it doesn't say that. Was the stage high up? Or was it audience level? Was he pushed over? On top of? Into?
I'd like more detail to get a better idea of things.
Also the first mention of Lydia Lunch she says Lydia wasn't a friend because of a lack of trust. But later she started a band with Lydia (which I assume she will get to later) but I'd like a little bit more really.
Although I laughed when she said Lydia tried to seduce Thurston because I imagine that's exactly when she was like having read Lydia's autobiography.
