Of course, I'd rather see the government mandate a secure, interoperable standard that wouldn't force anyone onto a single platform - and promote resiliency, but that's sadly far outside the realm of possibility these days.
@MishaVelthuis Maybe offering cheap/free hosting space outside #India would be an idea, because of the repressive climate under Modi.
@MishaVelthuis Another issue, is that Mastodon is only for 13% translated to #Hindi, 15% to #Tamil, 10% #Punjabi, and 5% to #Marathi. Just to name a few. Of course a lot of people can read English but using Mastodon in their mother tongue is a plus. #India has a large diaspora, so maybe those people can be of use?
