@thomasfuchs Smells of #ikea .
Discussion
I could believe it was an Ikea item except that a search for similar from them turns up nothing. It would match the "Benjamin" stools I have from them.
I am siding with the home or small individual maker group now
The bars are undoubtedly connected under each side of panel or this thing would wobble all over. Probably not hard to find some hardware screws/brackets for purpose; e.g. to connect a third piece of bar (stretcher) between the pairs of legs.
But, sometimes it's easier to buy the thing, if you can find it. :)
@thomasfuchs Have you considered it may be custom made? I see plenty of indications. It's an unusually clever design that doesn't lend itself well to mass manufacturing. Plywood doesn't like to bend and there are no kerf cuts, so the usual way to make bent plywood like that is to laminate it in curved state, which is extremely labour intensive. The bottom cutout has angled edges, implying it was routed out after forming the shape, not before to ease the bending.
You can probably find a skilled woodworker to make you one.
The two stands are just stainless/chrome with a simple bend and rubber feet plus screw holes drilled.
@thomasfuchs perhaps people at #BookLovers and #bookstodon can help to define this #design? ⬆️
@thomasfuchs could it hold vinyl records?
Disclaimer: no, i dont know it either
(enjoyed the meta fAIlures though 😄 )
but
it has some design details (the way the metal tubes are embedded in grooves in the wooden part, the black rubber ends) in common with a
"BORDSBOKHYLLA, teak, Firma Allbord, Ängelholm."
@thomasfuchs Firma Allbord, Ängelholm.
I would say the plywood puts it at 1980s or later, if from the 1950s then it would be massive wood, I'd say. I don't know if you have this item or just the picture, if the former, can you say if the legs are stainless steel or chrome? Are the black bits rubber or plastic? That should at least tell if its contemporary or not.
@thomasfuchs @Nonya_Bidniss based on the design elements, it’s likely a table bookshelf by Ängelholm (the one you have pictured is similar in style to the Firma Allbord model).
Good luck in your search. I’m sorry we aren’t more helpful. I’ll boost to get you more eyes on your search.
@thomasfuchs well, what we don’t know is the SIZE of it- that would go a long way to explaining functionality
@thomasfuchs bookbinder: wow that’s a really fancy piercing cradle
@thomasfuchs Google lens comes up with:
The item pictured is a magazine and record holder called the Arling. It was designed for the company Umbra.
@thomasfuchs I think it’s a miniature mid-century modern piece by Vitra. (kidding).

I don't think you have to laminate. Just make the cuts, then put into really damp oven, take out, bend (over some tube). I think that should work.
I would probably have sunk the screw-head into the tube and used little rubber feet that end in a semi-sphere.
Pre-mass-internet products are going to be really hard to find online... Good luck!
@thomasfuchs @isaka With your attitude, I imagine people are falling all over themselves to help you. Not.
@thomasfuchs I thought I read and got your point, clearly not then.
